Glassworks at Dobrabach

1698 – 1715

From 1698, the Jaidhof estate operated a glassworks on the Dobrabach after its predecessor in the Eisengraberamt had ceased production in 1692 due to timber depletion. Under glassmaster Peter Eisner, the facility primarily produced utilitarian vessels from greenish forest glass; archaeological finds additionally document cobalt-blue glass fragments. The initial workforce comprised seven journeymen, two stokers, and one female packer. A mill on the Dobrabach, described in documents as "overshot" – later known as the Ebnermühle – presumably served as the associated glass-cutting workshop. The field name "Dreihütten" still recalls the former buildings. After nearly two decades, the exhaustion of surrounding timber reserves necessitated the relocation of production to Schönberg in 1716.
